jane stops Lymphoedema therapist

Jane Stops has been interested in health care from a young age. She obtained a Diploma of Remedial Massage to study the management of lymphoedema, and has also studied and worked in other health science disciplines.

Jane completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Rehabilitation Counselling, along with further study including a Graduate Diploma, and Masters Degree in pain management. Gaining a Diploma of Remedial Massage enabled Jane to train as a lymphoedema professional. She still maintains a keen interest in pain management, hearing impairment and tinnitus.

Jane trained in Complex Lymphoedema Therapy with Elsebeth Petersen (Perry), an accredited trainer for the Australasian Lymphology Association, in the Casley-Smith method of Complex Lymphoedema Therapy. Jane treats people with existing mild-to-moderate lymphoedema, or those at significant risk. Patients who already have swelling diagnosed as lymphoedema are usually referred or recommended by medical/allied health professionals. A written referral is not needed at the first appointment. See 'What Is Lymphoedema' for information about Complex Lymphoedema Therapy. Further to basic lymphoedema training is the use of laser, Coban2 bandaging and counselling. Where considered appropriate, other therapists with specific skills will be recommended. Ongoing treatment is available for people with severe lymphoedema if treated initially as an inpatient at a hospital clinic.
